NYX Gaming Group wins Romania license, inks Portugal, Latin America deals

Gambling technology supplier NYX Gaming Group has received a new gambling license in Romania.

On Friday, the Toronto-listed NYX announced it had been issued a Class 2 license from Romania’s Oficiul National Pentru Jocuri de Noroc (ONJN), allowing it to supply its Open Gaming System (OGS) platform to current and future Romanian gaming licensees.

Earlier this week, NYX announced it had inked a memorandum of understanding with Solverde S.A., which operates five brick-and-mortar casinos in Portugal. The casino operator has expressed an interest in participating in the newly regulated Portuguese online gambling market.

In addition to using NYX’s Open Platform System (OPS), Solverde will also incorporate the online slots and scratch card titles of NYX subsidiary NextGen Gaming. Solverde director Americo Loureiro said NYX had won the job based on its “demonstrated capacity, quality of service presented and, above all, the client portfolio it already holds.”

Bloomberry mulls sale of Korean casino, second Manila venue targets mass market

Philippine casino operator Bloomberry Resorts is considering selling its recently acquired casino on South Korea’s Jeju island.

On Friday, Bloomberry filed a notice with the Philippine Stock Exchange to address media reports that it was looking to sell the Jeju Sun Hotel & Casino, one of eight foreigners-only casinos on the island.

Bloomberry’s brief notice confirmed that selling Jeju Sun is “one of the options it is looking at. However, no agreement has been signed yet with respect there to to date.”

There’s no question that Jeju Sun hasn’t been the cash cow Bloomberry might have hoped when it acquired the property in April 2015 via Bloomberry’s Solaire Korea Co Ltd subsidiary.

Travellers Int’l delays Entertainment City casino opening until 2020 or 2021

The opening of the West Side City Resorts World casino in Manila’s Entertainment City gaming zone could be delayed by as long as two years, according to the project’s joint venture partners.

On Friday, The Standard quoted Travellers International Hotel Group president Kingson Sian saying the project in Manila’s Entertainment City gaming zone might not open until 2020 or 2021, a significant delay on the project’s previous target of 2019.

Travellers International is a joint venture between Andrew Tan’s Alliance Global Group and Malaysia’s Genting conglomerate. The partners already operate the Resorts World Manila casino outside the Entertainment City zone.

One week ago, Travellers held its annual shareholder meeting, at which Sian claimed the company was still “tweaking” the project’s design “so that we offer something that is quite unique not only there but also in relation to Resorts World Manila. So we don’t repeat the same offering.”
