Israel tourism boss wants to fast-track casino proposal for Eilat

Yariv Levin is on a mission to keep the ball rolling for Israel’s first casino.

The tourism minister reportedly met with a committee of government officials on Wednesday to discuss options for setting up a casino complex in the southern city of Eilat, located close to a proposed international airport, according to state news outlet Times of Israel.

The committee, made up of directors of the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry Ministray, the mayor of Eilat, and other top ministry officials, had a self-imposed deadline of three months to come up with a memorandum for a bill that will pave the way for a casino resort in the port city, according to the news outlet, quoting reports from the Army Radio.

The memorandum will include the locations for the casino compound, the conditions for license approval, as well as the entry limitation for local residents. The officials also want to hammer down the limits on bets, the number of visits each person can make, and the amount of time they can spend inside the casino in one stretch.

Phishing vultures picking off Mt. Gox victims

Mt. Gox investors, who thought losing their bitcoins to Mark Karpeles was bad enough, were in for a rude awakening.

Researchers with computer security firm Cyren said many of Karpeles’s former investors have fallen victim once again—this time to phishing scammers.

Back in May, court-assigned trustee Nobuaki Kobayashi announced that they are about to award a total of JPY263.52 trillion (US$2.41 million) to some 24,750 verified creditogoxrs of the defunct bitcoin exchange, instructing the claimants to “browse the Mt.Gox claims website to confirm their status.”

But it seems that scammers are already one step ahead of Kraken, who is leading the charge in paying Mt. Gox’s former patrons, with an Inception-esque scheme targeting the unsuspecting Mt. Gox investors.

Swedish heavyweight in the gaming industry swims against the tide

Today 7th of June the industry’s latest player hits the casino floor. Codeta is an innovative Live Casino with a mission to give table games a new online home. The goal is set high and clear – Codeta will be the world-leading site for Live Table Games.

Investors are also excited with the vision and concept and were keen to climb on board, putting just over €2 million on a table of their own, in startup financing. A year deep into the development process in close collaboration with heavy hitters such as Evolution Gaming, Net Entertainment, LynxEye, Another Agency – and of course by talking to future players – Codeta is coming together.

Rather than seeking inspiration online, Codeta looked to the elusive world of exclusive casinos to get a better sense of how to emulate that sophisticated and timeless sensation you get when thinking about a classic casino environment. But how would you bring a sensation online? The sound from the roulette wheel, a card turning, the soft voices of the spectators and an authentic live dealer. Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to talk to the dealer in your own language? When there is a will (and pioneering technology), there is a way.

Codeta’s gaming portfolio is carefully selected in close collaboration with the industry’s top technology providers of Live Casino partners, among them Evolution Gaming which is Europe’s leading live casino providers.

Macau secretary sees half-glass full in slumping casino GGR data

Macau’s casino gross gaming revenue has already made a meteoric plunge in the first five months of 2016 but this is not enough to make Macau’s Secretary for Economy and Finance Lionel Leong Vai Tac to tremble in fear.

The reason for Leong’s optimistic outlook is simple – the data in the first five months suggest that Macau’s struggling gaming market has already bottomed out after posting almost two years of continuous declines in monthly gambling revenues.

GGR Asia reported that Macau has stood pat on its forecast for the city’s casino gross gaming revenue (GGR) at MOP200 billion (US$25 billion) for 2016, with Leong telling local media last Wednesday that the slumping casino GGR figures in the first five months of 2016 is “within the government’s expectations.”

Data fromthe Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau shows that the accumulated casino GGR of Macau in the first five months plunged by 11.9 percent to MOP91.91 billion ($11.5 billion) from the prior-year period.Casino revenue declined by 9.6 percent year-on-year in May, marking 24 consecutive months of declines when measured in year-on-year terms.
