Frustrated Bet365 punter mulls legal action to withdraw £54k account balance

Online gambling operator Bet365 is being publicly shamed by a disgruntled punter who says she can’t get her winnings off the site.

On Tuesday, The Guardian published the story of an unidentified female punter who claims to be having difficulties convincing Bet365 to fork over her £54k account balance. The punter claims to have had it with Bet365’s delays and has determined that legal action is her only remaining option.

The unnamed punter reportedly opened her Bet365 account on April 16 and deposited £30k the following day. Her first series of horseracing wagers that day were spectacularly unsuccessful, leading to a loss of £23k and a same-day notice from Bet365 that her maximum bet limit had been raised.

On April 18, the punter hit a hot streak, running her remaining £7k up to £54k. That same day, Bet365 informed her that it had made a “trading decision” to restrict her maximum race betting stake to a mere £1. However, Bet365 said she could continue to wager as much as she liked on their online casino products.

Pennsylvania House approves online gambling, daily fantasy sports legislation

Pennsylvania’s House of Representatives has approved online gambling and daily fantasy sports legislation, setting up a nail-biter in the state Senate.

On Tuesday, Pennsylvania’s House voted 114-85 in favor of the HB 2150 legislation they initially rejected last week when it contained a controversial video gaming terminals (VGT) component, then gave initial approval to the same legislation with the VGT component stripped out.

The amended HB 2150 approved by the House on Tuesday would allow Pennsylvania’s dozen brick-and-mortar casino operators to partner with approved online gambling technology providers to offer online casino and poker games to state residents.

Casinos looking to go online will pay an $8m upfront fee for a five-year license, with renewals costing $250k. The online technology partners of these casinos will have to pay $2m upfront, with renewal fees of $100k in five years’ time.

Galaxy Macau launches low-denomination slots area for “medium-level” gamblers

Macau casino operator Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) has launched a new low-denomination slots area in its flagship Galaxy Macau property.

On Monday, Galaxy Macau opened its new Duo Fu Duo Cai World, a collection of 128 slot machines offering Scientific Games’ popular Duo Fu Duo Cai slots title. The machines offer the ability to play for stakes as low as HK 5¢ — about two-thirds of a US cent – or as ‘high’ as HK 50¢.

Raymond Yap, GEG’s director of international premium and mass market development, said the new low-cost slots offering was “targeted to meet the players’ demand of this kind of slot game” and he hoped it would become “the largest galore” collection of Duo Fu Duo Cai games in Macau.

Slots have generally been an afterthought in Macau, where baccarat rules supreme. But GEG’s electronic games handle – which includes slots and electronic table games – was up 52% in its most recent earnings report. Galaxy Macau currently boasts around 3,400 slots, nearly one-quarter of the total 14,300 slots available across Macau at the end of Q1.

Singapore casino cheat jailed for 22 months over smartphone slot scam

A member of a syndicate that attempted to cheat Singapore’s Resorts World Sentosa and Marina Bay Sands casinos has been sentenced to nearly two years in prison.

In May, Singapore police announced that an international gang of three men and three women had been caught using electronic devices to predict big payouts on both casinos’ slot machines.

On Tuesday, the Straits Times reported that Czech national Rodoslav Skubnik had been sentenced to 22 months after admitting guilt on three charges of attempting to obtain an advantage for himself by cheating at play. The case marked Singapore’s first instance in which smartphone technology had been utilized to obtain such an edge.

According to Skubnik, he and his two Russian accomplices would use their smartphone video cameras to record play on slot machines made by a specific manufacturer. The recorded images would then be uploaded to a server that analyzed and decoded the data, which would then be loaded back onto the cheats’ phones for use in the casinos.
