Mr Green revenue jumps on new products, geographic expansion

Stockholm-based online gambling operator Mr Green saw revenue jump double-digits in Q3 following the introduction of its new sportsbook.

Figures released Friday show Mr Green’s revenue rising 14% to SEK 230m (US $25.4m) in the three months ending September 30 thanks to increased growth outside the company’s core Nordic markets.

However, earnings fell 57.5% to SEK 17.8m due to higher betting duties and increased costs, including a 51% rise in marketing and 28.4% more on personnel. The company’s ongoing provisions for its potential Austrian tax liability also took their toll.

The extra marketing costs were in part due to Mr Green branching out into sports betting in June with a product supplied by Kambi Sports Solutions. Costs also got a boost from preparations for the September 30 launch of Mr Green’s new live dealer casino.

Bitcoin poised to hit $800 sweet spot, analysts say

This week saw digital currency enthusiasts celebrate as bitcoin settle back in the $650 price range on major bitcoin exchanges. Well, analysts say bitcoin users may have to stock up on champagne bottles: the popular digital currency is poised to hit another sweet spot.

Investors and traders have been attributing the recent surge in the price of bitcoin to the hearty demand from the Chinese market due to fears of the Chinese yuan devaluation. But some financial experts believe that what is actually driving the demand for cryptocurrency is the Chinese government’s tightening regulations on wealth management solutions.

Bloomberg recently reported that the central bank of China has started the trial monitoring of banks’ off-balance-sheet wealth management products (WMPs) under its macro-prudential assessment system. The goal, according to Citigroup analyst Judy Zhang, is for regulators to better “control the pace of broad-based credit supply.”

For the digital currency market, this news may lead to another price break.

Singapore Pools starts online betting services

State-owned lottery company Singapore Pools has started offering its online betting services in Singapore.

Singapore pools is the first operator to offer online betting services since Singapore’s Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) declared that the firm and Singapore Turf Club race betting monopoly had been “found suitable” for exemption from the Remote Gambling Act (RGA) that was enacted in February 2015.

Yahoo Finance reported that the betting services started to offer online betting services to the city state at 3 p.m., on Tuesday. The company’s patrons can now place their bets for popular lotto services such as 4D and Toto, as well as sports such as football and Formula 1.

Singapore Pool, however, is still banned from offering casino-style games online such as poker and blackjack. The government also prohibits Singapore Pool from allowing persons under 21 to place their bets and it require all bettors to undergo identity verification at a physical outlet.

Macau distances itself from Crown Resorts’ China arrests

The recent arrests in mainland China have no connection to Macau.

That was the statement made by authorities in Macau, which has sought to distance itself from claims that the clampdown on casino marketing activities in China will affect Macau’s industry.

Paulo Martins Chan, director of Macau’s Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ), told Macau-based reporters that none of the 18 Crown Resorts representatives who were detained in mainland China “were employees from Macau.”

“The gaming companies here reported to us that they had always been abiding by the laws in mainland China,” Chan said, according to a GGRAsia report.

Oshi welcome new games providers and introduce additional currency options

As they head towards their 1st anniversary this November, Oshi casino have rounded off a busy year with the addition of two further software providers along with extra options for players wanting to deposit to and withdraw from their accounts using FIAT Money.

Having started life as a Bitcoin-specific operator nearly twelve months ago, Oshi first introduced Euros as a funding option back in April of this year and have now added RUB and $AUD to their list of options. “We are all about choice in games so why not mirror it with currencies?”

Calling The Clock: Kassouf, Kings And Kenny

This week, we cover William Kassouf’s extraordinary exit hand at the World Series of Poker, the King’s Casino striking a deal with the World Series of Poker Europe, and Kenny Hallaert signing a short deal with 888Poker.

So William Kassouf is a big thing.

He has been the talk of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) highlights show ever since the action started to get serious, and this week he even managed to get radio show host Stugotz to say, “If poker were like that all the time, I would watch poker all the time. That’s a better product than the NFL.”

The ‘product’ that Stugotz was referring to is the episode that showed Kassouff exiting in 17th place after a cooler against Griffin Benger that has gone viral. It was kings versus aces with the Canadian holding the aces, but it was the verbal sparring that has gotten the mainstream media asking Santa for a poker chip set.
