Wales fail in their bid to wrest control over FOBTs from UK government

Welsh Assembly Ministers have failed in their attempts to wrest control of the Fixed Odds Betting Terminals that are earning over £1.6 billion per year in the country, despite the Wales Bill moving forward for Royal Assent.

I live in Wales, so the passing of the new Wales Bill should be of news to me, shouldn’t it?

There is only one problem.

I don’t understand it.

Georgia lawmakers takes another shot at daily fantasy sports legalization

The US state of Georgia is giving the legalization of daily fantasy sports another try – but this time with more politicians backing the proposed bill.

State representatives Trey Kelley, Brett Harrell, David Clark, Spencer Frye, and Chuck Martin filed House Bill 118, which seeks to “provide for the licensing, registration, regulation, and taxation of fantasy contest operators.”

Called the “Fantasy Contests Act,” the proposed measure contains similar provisions from many bills that state lawmakers have introduced over the past year and a half but failed to pass.

The bill, which is now being taken up by the House Committee on Ways and Means, aims to strike a balance between protecting the welfare of consumers and creating a relatively low barrier to entry for paid-entry fantasy sports operators.

PBoC plans to continue on-site inspections of Chinese bitcoin exchanges

Buoyed by the success of its initial crackdown on the so-called “Big 3” bitcoin exchanges, China’s central bank now intends to continue its on-site inspections of bitcoin companies in the country.

The Beijing branch of the People’s Bank of China (PBoC) announced on Wednesday that it will continue it inspections in collaboration with the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Finance and the Municipal Bureau of Industry and Commerce, while the central bank’s Department of Business Management will lead inspections on payment settlements, anti-money laundering, foreign currency management and financial security.

“Investigators also suggest that investors should pay attention to bitcoin platform transactions and activities such as legal compliance, market volatility, financial security and other risks, with careful participation in bitcoin investment activities,” the central bank said on its website.

Previously, PBoC officials conducted on-site visits at three of China’s biggest bitcoin exchanges—BTC China, OKCoin and Huobi—to check whether these companies’ operations have gone beyond the scope of their market. Investigators from the central bank said they discovered “irregularities” in the operations of the three companies.

Becky’s Affiliated: Why personalization is the key to player reactivation with Mikael Hansson

Acquiring new players is a main driver of marketing plans across every operator in the iGaming space, some would even say it’s the number one driver.  As the global gambling market becomes more and more saturated, especially within more established markets such as the UK, we’re now seeing a shift in focus from acquisition to reactivation of existing players, or ideally a mixture of both.

Fire & Ice 2017 Preview – “Twisted Tales” descend upon London’s Troxy on February 8th

The 16th annual Fire & Ice will take place on February 8th in London at the Troxy, home for the past five years to the gambling industry’s biggest and most anticipated party.  Calvinayre.com loves covering this event each year because our senses are constantly stimulated by the activity on stage, around the bars, on the floor and at the VIP tables- it’s an audio and visual delight for our camera and of course, our beloved viewers.

Each year co-hosts Michael Caselli and Jodie Thind of Lyceum Media conjure up an original and sultry theme, both driving the stage acts and costumes of party staff and guests.  2017 brings a “Twisted Tales” theme, think childhood fairy tales but with a Caselli-inspired creative twist.

“Fire & Ice ‘Twisted Tales’ looks at cherished child fairy tales and twists their lessons 180 degrees”, Caselli told exclusively shared with CalvinAyre.com.

He continued, “Initially I thought that would make for a dark and disturbing storyline, but when I got into the tales, I found that they were already dark and twisted. What surprised me was that in reversing the story’s underlying lessons, the stories didn’t get more strange, but more applicable in today’s world. I don’t know if that means that we have done an about-face since the times of Hans Christian Anderson and the Brothers Grimm, but it did take me by surprise and made me wonder what we have all become.
