DFS bills make headway in New Jersey & Florida

Laws declaring Daily Fantasy Sports a game of skill progressed in both Florida and New Jersey on Monday thanks to Dana Young and former Casino Control Commission Chairman Steven Perskie.

Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) bed partners DraftKings, and FanDuel has put their money to good use by hiring the highly respectable, Steven Perskie, to argue the point that DFS is not ‘gambling’ in front of the Assembly Tourism, Gaming and the Arts Committee on Monday.

The former Chairman of the Casino Control Commission did well. The Committee passed a bill legalising and regulating DFS in the state of New Jersey with seven thumbs going up and none going down.

Perskie argued that selecting a winning DFS team again and again proved that the game was one of skill and therefore should not be “prohibited by the provision against gambling in the New Jersey Constitution, and are therefore within the authority of the New Jersey Legislature to authorise and regulate.”

Event twenty five recap 2017 – Aussie Millions Poker Championship

Melbourne, Australia. Tuesday 31 January 2017 – On the last day of the 2017 Aussie Millions, Crown Melbourne was still buzzing with poker players. The chip riffling must havebeen heard from across the Yarra River with cash games and multiple tournaments still running.

The closing party that was called the AUD$5,000 Pot Limit Omaha attracted a field of 65 entries, with a lot of them being re-entries from players that busted early and used their single re-entry option to give it another go.

After 14 hours of play, Espen Solaas from Norway came out as the victor, beating the likes of Dzmitry Urbanovich and title defender Daniel Demicki on the final table. Solaas walked away with AUD$100,815.

The $5,000 Pot Limit Omaha event had a shot clock of just 20 seconds. Time breaker chips, like the high rollers had earlier this Aussie Millions, were nowhere to be seen. Every hand was quick, no one had time to ponder deep about decisions – 20 seconds and not a second more was what the player had to do with.

Like nothing you’ve seen at ICE

– once more Gamevy stands out from the crowd.

At ICE it’s hard to move for promo girls in lycra or body paint. But when everyone is trying to gain attention with a display of flesh, everyone ends up looking the same and just a little bit – dare we say it – dated?

Industry newcomers and award-winning game supplier, Gamevy, are well known for their irreverent approach. In 2016, their ‘studs in stilettos’ offered a light-hearted giggle at the i-gaming industry’s reliance on scantily-clad girls with two boys in high heels. This year, the team have decided on another cheeky send-up.

Promotion staff seem to vanish from ICE by age 25… So we’re introducing the Gamevy Grannies – two gorgeous older ladies who like to stir things up and are like NOTHING you’ll have seen at ICE.

Super Bowl LI prop bets: Brady edges Ryan as MVP favorite

In the first 50 Super Bowls, quarterbacks ended up being named Most Valuable Player of the big game 27 times (54 percent), with running backs and wide receivers tied for second at six a piece (12 percent).

Odds courtesy of OddsShark.com

With those numbers obviously heavily weighted toward signal-callers and the two most well-known players in Super Bowl 51 playing that position, it is no surprise to see that Tom Brady of the New England Patriots and Matt Ryan of the Atlanta Falcons are favored to win the award this Sunday in Houston.

Brady has won Super Bowl MVP three times previously in the four title games the Patriots have won, making him the top choice on the betting board at +120 (bet $100 to win $120). He will be attempting to become the first quarterback to win five Super Bowls.

UK bookies demand “urgent inquiry” into MPs’ FOBT report

Britain’s bookies are crying foul over a parliamentary report calling for fixed-odds betting terminals (FOBT) maximum stakes to be reduced from £100 to just £2.

On Monday, the Association of British Bookmakers (ABB) issued a terse press release “demanding an urgent inquiry into a new report” by the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) tasked with studying the alleged carnage that FOBTs have wrought on UK society.

The ABB declined to participate in the APPG’s November meeting with industry figures re the FOBT issue, calling the exercise a “kangaroo court.” In December, the APPG publicly declared its desire to see the government order a stake reduction – as well as cutting the current maximum of four FOBTs per shop – as part of the gambling review the government announced last October.

The APPG’s full report is set to be issued on Tuesday, but the ABB wasn’t willing to wait that long. Monday saw the ABB launch a pre-emptive strike against the “deeply flawed” report, which it claimed was funded by “commercial rivals of Britain’s bookmakers” who stand to “directly benefit if [the report’s] recommendations are ever implemented.”
