Roulette cheat fined $75k for trying to withdraw $2,100 bet

Cheaters never prosper, as a pair of recent casino cheat legal cases amply demonstrated.

In the first case, a pair of shysters were sentenced to five years of probation and ordered to repay the nearly $40k in ill-gotten winnings their antics stole from the JACK Casino in Cleveland, which is run by the Detroit-based company formerly known as Rock Gaming.

Lonnie Bridges and Kenneth Young were convicted in December on felony gambling charges following a July 2015 run of suspiciously good luck at the casino’s craps tables that netted them $39,200.

Each of the men took turns as the thrower, while the other, along with an unidentified co-conspirator, would distract the croupier by making a flurry of last-minute complex wagers on a specific number. At the same time, the thrower would position the dice in his hand with specific numbers facing upward and ‘slide’ the dice across the table so they came to a stop showing the same numbers.

Do online poker ambassadors provide value or create waste?

With a little help from partypoker’s Tom Waters, Lee Davy takes a look at the role of the online poker ambassador to try and determine if they provide value or create waste?

My brother-in-law is learning Japanese.

I know two words: Arigato and Muda.

The first means thank you. I learned this when I was younger. The kids used to say it to tease me. They were stupid kids. I was half-Chinese.

Saipan seeks new taxes on Imperial Pacific’s casino revenue

Saipan casino operator Imperial Pacific International Holdings is facing legislation that seeks to impose new taxes on its gaming revenue.

On Monday, the Marianas Variety reported that two House of Representatives lawmakers – including Vice-Speaker Janet Maratita – planned to introduce legislation on Tuesday that would impose a 5% tax on all gaming revenue generated in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI).

Saipan’s only gaming licensee Imperial Pacific currently operates a temporary casino, Best Sunshine Live. Its in-development permanent resort, the Imperial Pacific Resort Hotel Saipan, is supposed to open its first phase sometime this spring, although the company appears to be having some difficulty raising the necessary financing to complete the project.

The new HB 20-31 legislation claims that Imperial Pacific’s operations are “largely untaxed and the time has come to tax it in a fair and reasonable manner.” Imperial Pacific currently pays business gross revenue tax, a $15m annual fee to retain its casino exclusivity on Saipan, plus $20m more in annual contributions to a Community Chest Fund. Imperial Pacific has yet to comment publicly on the new legislation.
