AGTech teams with India’s Paytm on mobile games joint venture
Hong Kong-based lottery technology supplier AGTech Holdings has inked a joint venture deal to enter India’s online gaming market.
On Monday, AGTech announced that its AGTech Media subsidiary had entered into a partnership with Paytm Group, an offshoot of Indian payment processing and e-commerce firm Paytm Holding, to develop and operate platforms for online and mobile games. AGTech will hold 45% of the JV while Paytm will control the remaining 55%.
AGTech, which primarily provides retail technology to China’s provincial lottery administrators, is owned by Alibaba Holding and Ant Financial, and Paytm is an associate of the latter company, making the JV a connected transaction.
The JV partners will make an initial investment of around $16m to fund the development of online and mobile games tailored for the Indian market. Galaxy Macau loses $77K in chip scams: report
A casino resort in Macau has reportedly lost HK$600,000 (US$76,849) in at least seven incidents this month involving fake gambling chips.
The city state’s Judiciary Police told GGRAsia that the casino resort—which authorities declined to identify—has been targeted seven times since July 19. The latest incident took place on Saturday, according to the report.
Public broadcaster TDM reported the latest incident on Monday, in which it showed images of fake gambling chips that carry the name of Galaxy Macau, the flagship property of casino operator Galaxy Entertainment Group.
According to the report, the Judiciary Police arrested two men from mainland China on charges of using counterfeit gambling chips in a casino in Cotai. The men were believed to have received the fake gambling chips “as soon as they arrived in Macau.”
Connecticut tribes clear legislative hurdle to build East Windsor casino
The Mashantucket Pequots and the Mohegans have notched another victory in their campaign to build a first tribal casino on non-tribal land in Connecticut.
On Monday, the Associated Press reported that members of the House of Representatives voted 118-32 approving the amended compacts and memoranda of understanding between the state of Connecticut and the two federally recognized tribes.
Signed by Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy and the tribal leaders, the revised agreements will make sure that the entertainment and casino gaming facility that the tribes want to build in East Windsor will not compromise the state’s existing revenue-sharing agreements with the tribes.
The amended compacts will now proceed to the Senate and the federal Bureau of Indian Affairs for approval.
Philippine House divided over congressional casino franchise requirement
Philippine legislators are now divided over a proposal to require casino operators to get congressional franchises.
ABS-CBN News reported that Philippine House Speaker had been pushing for the amendment of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation’s (PAGCOR) charter, specifically the removal of the agency’s regulatory functions over casinos
Alvarez opened the second regular session of the 17th Congress on Monday by dangling the proposal in front of the 296 members of the House of Representatives, saying such move would “make certain that the public’s interest will always be protected.”
“This will make certain that their applications are scrutinized deeply. Only the deserving will be allowed to operate,” Alvarez said.
Macau earnings on tap, why to sell into strength
This week may be the last week to lock in Macau profits until the winter. If you still own Macau stocks and haven’t at least lightened positions to keep some profits, I suggest doing so on the upcoming earnings reports. Wynn, Las Vegas Sands, and MGM are all reporting earnings this week. Whether they beat or not is not really the issue, but rather what happens next.
The sentiment surrounding Macau right now is quite bullish, and these are good conditions for at least lightening positions. Wynn is right near its 52-week high, by itself a technical signal that will trigger at least some selling by technicians who look at nothing but chart patterns. Beyond the technicals, we have the ongoing monetary situation, with dollar supply growth bottoming out around mid-to-late August at dangerously low levels. Even if Wynn doesn’t decline through the whole month of August, it is very unusual for a major to trend higher when the dollar supply is not growing. If you sell now, there is a small possibility you won’t dodge any significant decline, but the chances are miniscule that you will be missing any significant rally.
What if Wynn beats estimates? This will likely cause a brief pop in the stock where you can probably take profits at a slightly better price. Some stocks always beat estimates. Wynn has been 50/50 since 2014. In 8 of 14 quarters since 4Q2013, Wynn has beaten EPS estimates. That’s a rate of higher than 50% through one of the worst bear markets that Macau has ever seen.
There have been no major attacks against the VIP market this quarter in China save an off-the-cuff warning from a junket firm about moving money around, so there aren’t likely to be any major downside surprises here. The downside surprises are more likely to happen in mid-to-late August, when the monetary situation reaches its trough. We are likely to see a sharp but quick selloff in almost everything. If you’re a Macau fan, the time to buy for at least a short term trade will be then, not now with Macau stocks near 52-week highs.

iGaming Academy is addressing one of the key regulatory issues currently influencing iGaming with the launch of its new eLearning course on General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliance.
With content relevant for all employees who deal with client data, the aim of the course is to define what personal data is, what parts should be protected, how they might be breached and how to comply with the new GRPR regulations. As well as presenting information, the course will deliver different scenarios to test viewers’ understanding of Data Protection.
Jaime Debono, iGaming Academy’s Managing Director commented that “Understanding GDPR and the requirements it puts on business is essential. It’s critical that companies and their employees are well prepared as this will help ensure they safe guard their interests as well as those of their clients”.
iGaming Academy’s GDPR Compliance course forms part of the company’s regulatory compliance core range. Others within the range include:

CEEGC 2017 announces a special Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency oriented panel in partnership with BitMalta
25 July 2017, Budapest: The organizers of CEEGC2017 are excited to announce a new panel on the Agenda which will aim towards giving updates and advices about the role of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in the online gambling industry. The Central and Eastern European Gaming Conference is going to take place between 19-20 September at the Kempinski Corvinus Budapest.
In their press release, the organizer expressed feelings that they are certain that if you open up your internet browser, listen to the radio streams or just watch the news on TV, a new piece about Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency will pop up.
And if you are in the online gambling industry, no doubt you’ve heard about how the industry is embracing Bitcoin. Cryptocurrency is not a new thing, as a matter of fact, in 1998, Wei Dai published a description of “b-money”, an anonymous, distributed electronic cash system which shortly thereafter, was followed by “Bit Gold” created by Nick Szabo. Just like bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies that would follow it, Bit Gold was an electronic currency system which required users to complete a proof of work function with solutions being cryptographically put together and published. A currency system based on a reusable proof of work was later created by Hal Finney who followed the work of Dai and Szabo.
The first decentralized cryptocurrency, bitcoin, was created in 2009 by pseudonymous developer Satoshi Nakamoto. It used SHA-256, a cryptographic hash function, as its proof-of-work scheme. Many other cryptocurrencies have been created though few have been successful, as they have brought little in the way of technical innovation. On 6 August 2014, the UK announced its Treasury had been commissioned to do a study of cryptocurrencies, and what role, if any, they can play in the UK economy. The study was also to report on whether regulation should be considered.

UK gamblers’ new tool for filing gambling-related complaints
The UK’s gambling regulator is enhancing its’ ‘consumer first’ focus by partnering with an online support tool through which gamblers can submit complaints to gambling operators.
On Monday, the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) announced that, as of August 1, gamblers will be able to use Resolver, an online support tool for aggrieved consumers of all stripes. The UKGC worked with Resolver’s developers to ensure they understood gambling-related issues but the tool remains entirely independent of the regulator.
Resolver provides complainants with explanations of their consumer rights, creates a case file that enables them to store all their complaint information in a single location and acts as an email service, meaning operators will receive the complaint from a Resolver email address, not the customer’s personal email. The UKGC stresses that it expects its licensees to accept complaints sent via Resolver.
The UKGC stresses that Resolver isn’t an intermediary and doesn’t act on the consumer’s behalf, but the hope is that providing a more cohesive structure for complaints will provide both consumers and gambling operators with a more efficient mechanism for dispute resolution. There is no charge to use Resolver.
