Analysts say that China’s new overseas investment rules were laid out in order to quell the possible spark risks and endanger national interests and security.

The Chinese government has categorized overseas business ventures into three – banned, restricted, and encouraged.

CalvinAyre.com acquires CoinGeek.com

The media company behind gaming industry news portal CalvinAyre.com has acquired cryptocurrency news site Coingeek.com as part of site founder Calvin Ayre’s deeper involvement in all things Bitcoin.

CalvinAyre.com was set up to address fake news in the gaming industry and CoinGeek.com’s clear intent to do the same in the Bitcoin world has impressed both Calvin himself and the team behind CalvinAyre.com. With the established financial system putting its might behind derailing Bitcoin, alarmist and inaccurate media in the space is, sadly, rife.

The plan is for CalvinAyre.com to continue to cover Bitcoin news as it relates to the gaming industry, while using its considerable resources to enable Coingeek.com to hire more technical and media personnel, thereby allowing the site to provide truly global coverage of this rapidly expanding economic instrument.

Many governments are looking into Bitcoin, with economic heavyweight Japan taking the step to officially recognise the cryptocurrency. Antigua & Barbuda are also looking to take a lead in Bitcoin-related commerce, having recently named Calvin Ayre as their specific economic envoy for Bitcoin and blockchain technology.”

It still blows my mind that the people who lost their money on UB on Black Friday are actually going to get their money back https://t.co/a6RAKWJZQN

Bill to clip PAGCORs licensing powers filed in Congress

This is not a drill.

The Philippine House of Representatives has move to clip the licensing powers of state-run Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR).

Members of the Philippine House have been eyeing to snatch the power to issue gambling license from PAGCOR, especially in the wake of the deadly Resorts World Manila arson attack that left 38 people dead two months ago.

But it was only early this month when Congress finally decided to take away the licensing powers from PAGCOR by filing a bill that will make the government-controlled corporation “purely regulatory.”

Philippine-listed gaming technology provider PhilWeb Corp. will soon be back to business after it has finally secured the nod of the state-run Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp.

The Philippine Star reported that PAGCOR has issued a Provisional Certificate of Accreditation as an Electronic Gaming System (EGS) service provider to PhilWeb after the firm has satisfied the conditions set by the state regulator.

The news is definitely a welcome development for PhilWeb, which has seen its net income plunged 134.2 percent to PHP297.7 million (US$6.01 million) in 2016 from PHP869.6 million ($17.55 million) in 2015 due to the expiration and non-renewal of its Intellectual Property License and Management Agreement (IPLMA).

SiGMA show breaking all records

From a simple bedroom project to a buzzing show that has doubled in size over three years and shows no signs of plateau: this has been our humbling journey so far; a roller coaster that has connected many entrepreneurs and gained a bit of respect from the elite of igaming. 2017 is the very first year where we’re embracing the challenges and opportunities of a global show, with growing interest from the heavyweights of the industry across continents.

Shortly after SiGMA16 we took heed of your feedback and will be introducing some interesting upgrades, including, but not limited to the following:

1. Conferences: The conferences worked marvels in 2016, with a number of partnerships and a new cabaret-style layout room – the hall was packed from 9am to 6pm. We plan on establishing more partnerships, and apply even stricter guidelines for the best speakers. We’re also changing the way content is presented by reducing the run-of-the-mill panel, at times mind-numbing discussions with more engaging content. Come SiGMA17, expect more fish bowls, speed dating and better interaction between speakers and audience using latest technologies and apps available. Harsh as it may sound; we’re even tempted to have the speakers rated live – power to the audience!

2. 1,000 Free Flights: Inspired by the movie 300, last year we gave 300 flights to affiliates. The initiative went down very well with affiliates and operators, so this year we’re stretching our budgets by inviting 500 NEW affiliates and also 500 top C level executives, mostly CTOs, CPOs, CEOs, COOs – to keep the B2B side of the business equally busy with a fresh bloodline of potential customers. Exhibitors are encouraged to invite VIP guests, flights on us, and throw a string of hospitality events around SiGMA. After all, Malta lends itself quite well for hospitality.

There’s a new iGaming guy in Berlin town

Glück Games confirms the appointment of Rafael Razim as its new CTO.

Glück Games, the Gibraltar and Berlin-based ‘casual-real money games’ developer, aggregator and technology provider, has announced the appointment of Rafael Razim its new, full-time Chief Technology Officer.

Razim has significant experience in the iGaming sector and is recognised as one of Berlin’s top CTOs. He previously co-founded Berlin-based GimiGames, a VC-backed multiplayer skill-gaming platform, and a real-money poker-company in Malta. He joins Glück Games as “late co-founder” and part of the management team.

The appointment comes after 18-months of strong successes for the young, rapidly-growing iGaming developer based in Berlin and Gibraltar. Glück Games specialises in producing real money gaming content for the broad, lottery-playing demographic. Its games are now hitting an annualised sales run rate of circa €45million within twelve months of going live with operators including Lottoland and Lottohelden.
