Israel’s new cryptocurrency rules for banks: no online gambling
Israel has introduced new regulations that will require banks to increase their monitoring of cryptocurrency transactions, particularly if they involve online gambling sites.
Last week, Israel’s Money Laundering and Terror Financing Prohibition Authority, an offshoot of the Ministry of Justice, released a draft of new legislation in tandem with the June 1 implementation of the Financial Services Supervision Law, which regulates financial asset service providers.
The draft legislation, which is up for public comment until June 13, provides an exhaustive list of cryptocurrency transactions “that may appear to be unusual,” and which Israeli financial institutions – including cryptocurrency trading platforms – are required to monitor and report to law enforcement agencies.
Among these potentially ‘unusual’ transactions are the “transfer of virtual currencies to online gambling platforms and sites.” Online gambling is strictly forbidden in Israel, despite the country being a popular base for online gambling companies to base their technology and support staff.

3 weeks prior to kick-off: a look at the operators’ final checklist
Now with less than three weeks for the World Cup to unleash a true and proper football bonanza, bookmakers have for a while been preparing and gearing up their operations to seize the opportunity that this greatest sporting show presents.
Apart from the potential increase in revenue, that as indicated by BtoBet’s Director of Sports Department Davide Ruggeri, could increment by 200%, the World Cup presents operators with a perfect scenario for player acquisition and more importantly retention. How?
First and foremost, from an infrastructural and technological point of view during the weeks that will characterize an inundation of bets taking place, the priority for each and every bookmaker is zero down-time. Such an unfortunate scenario will not only dent the brand’s image, but serve players with a reason to jump ship from one bookmaker to another. Therefore, with this in mind aspects such as volume, coverage, and even the acquisition and retention strategies themselves should be at the very top of the check-list.
Is this enough? No. Content is what eventually will grab the players’ attentions and what will in turn instil an element of loyalty with players returning to place more than one bet. On this whole concept Ruggeri opined that “the goal is to galvanize the attention of the players on the main aspects related to the World Cup, and not essentially related to a specific circumstance.” He further stated that operators should consider content diversity as “the first step to avoid the usual high churn rate that sees players moving away from betting over the World Cup period”.
GVC shareholders rebel over $89.3M executive pay
Investors of UK-listed gambling firm GVC Holdings PLC are up in arms against the “excessively disproportionate” fat paychecks awarded to two of the company’s bosses, totaling £67 million ($89.3 million).
Shareholder advice firms Pirc and Glass Lewis told investors to say no to GVC Chairman Larry Feldman and CEO Kenny Alexander’s hefty payments at the company’s annual meeting in Gibraltar on June 6, according to The Guardian report.
GVC is reportedly awarding Feldman with share options amounting to £22.5 million ($29.99 million), while Alexander is set to receive £45 million ($59.98 million) in share options. Glass Lewis pointed out that Alexander’s pay is estimated to be 550 times greater than what an average employee gets, and thus finding it “excessively disproportionate.”
Remuneration think tank High Pay Centre director Luke Hildyard also shared Glass Lewis’s sentiments, pointing out that the company continued to give out ‘outrageous’ executive pay despite the dissent of at least 45 percent of its investors.
Lower chamber approves Japan’s anti-gambling addiction bill
A bill seeking to protect problem gamblers has sailed through the lower chamber of the Japanese Diet over the weekend.
The approval of the anti-gambling addiction bill came at a time when the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) stamped the Integrated Resorts (IR) Implementation Bill as a priority in the legislative agenda on Saturday.
GGRAsia reported that the LDP, its political partner Komeito Party, and opposition group Japan Restoration Party set their differences aside to jointly pass a measure tackling problem gambling issues that may arise when the Diet approves the IR bill.
Many gambling analysts saw the passage of anti-gambling addiction bill as a precursor to the IR bill’s approval. Lawmakers reportedly tried to strike a balance between making gambling establishments—including the $200 billion pachinko industry—profitable while putting some safety nets in order to prevent the emergence of a new generation of problem gamblers.
Prosecutor handling Okada fraud case draws ire of Philippine justice official
Japanese billionaire Kazuo Okada is not yet off the hook as far as his $3 million fraud case in the Philippines is concerned.
The Philippine’s Department of Justice (DOJ) has launched a probe against the city prosecutor who dismissed the four counts of estafa (fraud case) that Tiger Resort Leisure and Entertainment Inc. (TRLEI) filed against Okada for alleged bias, according to Philippine News Agency report.
Philippine Justice Secretary Menardo Guevara confirmed that Paranaque City Prosecutor Amerhassan Paudac will be investigated to determine whether he prematurely disclosed the decision on Okada’s fraud case. There’s a possibility that Paudac’s dismissal of Okada’s fraud case will be voided if Paudac is found guilty of leaking the decision.
“I will look into this matter ASAP. Premature disclosure of orders and resolutions prior to official release is not allowed unless there are compelling reasons that would sufficiently justify the same,” Guevara said, according to the news outlet.

Poker Central has inked a deal with Amazon’s video streaming service Twitch in a bid to turn members of the avid gaming community into PokerGO subscribers during the World Series of Poker.
Over 300 million people watched the UEFA Champions League Final last night. I didn’t. You’re more likely to find a trembling surgeon than a live sporting event worth watching live on TV, for free. Fortunately, it’s not the same for poker fans.
For now.
When it comes to content, the poker community has been lucky for way too long. Ever since I joined the industry in 2009, most content has been available for free, especially once the live stream revolution kicked in. The cost of running a live tour increased as organisations felt compelled to hire production teams to stream footage around the world, and to date, most of them haven’t found new streams of income to relieve the pressure of this burden.
Everything is bigger as WSOPC announces 2018_19 tour stops

What are all of these people doing here?
It can’t be the coffee; you can get that shit at home, and for a third of the price. It’s not for the company. A few are locked in dialogue, but most stare at their phones like the little bear seeing Goldilocks lying in his bed for the first time. The rest stare into the main road, watching cars splashing rain onto Lululemon.
They’re bored.
