FanDuel Group to air sports betting content on TVG network
The new FanDuel Group plans to use its horseracing media assets to educate Americans on the whole legal sports betting thing.
On Friday, Bloomberg reported that the FanDuel Group – the newly merged entity of daily fantasy sports operator FanDuel and the US-facing operations of UK-listed gambling operator Paddy Power Betfair – plan to use Betfair’s TVG broadcasting platform to air sports betting content in newly regulated US state markets.
FanDuel CEO Matt King told Bloomberg that the company would be “investing heavily in content” to air on the TVG and TVG2 cable networks, as well as TVG’s digital channels. However, King said the content wouldn’t be dominated by references to the FanDuel brand to ensure that “it’s not viewed as an infomercial for FanDuel.”
It remains to be seen how TVG’s horsey set react to the sudden influx of non-racing content invading their clubby little broadcasting niche. It’s equally unclear whether sports bettors who aren’t into racing will gravitate towards TVG to check out the isolated pockets of content they’d find interesting.

Russia mulls new measures to combat illegal gambling adverts
Russian legislators could allow the government to block illegal online casino advertising without a court order, while sentencing those who promote such sites to hard labor.
On Friday, Russia’s official parliamentary gazette reported that Youth Parliament leaders would submit a bill to the State Duma’s Information Policy Committee in September that would force internet service providers to restrict access to illegal online casino advertising the moment such promos are detected.
The move follows this week’s news that Curacao-licensed online casino Azino777 was Russia’s top online video advertiser – outpacing even Coca-Cola – in the first half of 2018. At present, Russia permits only online sports betting by a few select companies, so either operating or promoting online casinos is strictly agin’ the law.
The Youth Parliament also wants to sentence Russian celebrities – like rappers Guf and Viti AK-47 – who promote online casinos to ‘compulsory corrective works’ aka busting rocks with a pickaxe in some mosquito-infested Siberian forest. Youth leader Maria Voropayeva said such punishments were needed to ensure these celebrities “suffer from fraudulent actions.”

Landing Int’l casino operations to start in March 2022 – PAGCOR
Hong Kong-listed casino operator Landing International Development Ltd. (LIDL) may have to wait five more years before it starts its casino operations in Manila.
State-run Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) confirmed on Thursday that it recently granted LIDL a provisional license for the construction and operation of its $1.5 billion integrated resort in Manila.
However, PAGCOR said that LIDL may only start its casino operations by March 2022 due to a standing 5-year moratorium on new casinos in the state capital. The existing integrated resorts in Manila had requested a casino moratorium in 2017 to allow the market the space to mature.
There are about 18 casinos in Metro Manila, 3 of which are operated and owned by PAGCOR.

Massachusetts regulator shelves $677M Brockton casino talks – for now
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) has put talks on the proposed $700 million casino in Brockton, Massachusetts on hold as the state prepares for the opening of MGM Springfield.
Mass Gaming & Entertainment (MGE) recently asked the MGC to take a second look at the casino proposal that was rejected two years ago, according to MassLive.com.
In 2016, the MGC voted against awarding MGE a resort casino license, citing market saturation concerns.
This time around, MGG Chairman Stephen Crosby deferred the review on the Brockton casino proposal simply because the regulator is too busy to tackle the issue.
