partypoker celebrates Tony G’s birthday

This Sunday, poker pro and politician Tony G, whose real name is Antanas Guoga, turns the ripe old age of 45. In honor of the achievement, partypoker plans to hold a poker tournament in his name at King’s Casino in Rozvadov, the Czech Republic. The tournament will be a €1,100-buy-in Pot-Limit Omaha event with a guarantee of €200,000 ($227,471). For anyone who has ever wanted to take a shot at the top-ranked Lithuanian player, this could be the perfect time.

The tournament will start on Saturday and pre-registration is now open at PokerRoomKings.com. The tournament will take two days to find a winner, but will be filled with excitement the entire time.

Tony G is a long-time poker pro who has amassed more than $6 million in live action. He is known for his boisterous banter at the tables, which is probably what also makes him a good politician. His voracious appetite for disputes once led poker commentator Gabe Kaplan to state, “Tony G could singlehandedly reignite the Cold War.”

He has been seen on numerous televised events and has gone up against the likes of Mike Matusow and Phil Hellmuth. Given the propensity of all three to want to find camera time, there was often more action with the cameras than with the cards.
