Century Casinos Inc. earnings surged in the second quarter with the opening of a new racetrack and casino in Calgary and the launch of an off-track betting operation in Canada. The Colorado Springs-based gaming company reported Friday its earnings for the April-to-June quarter jumped 42 times from a year ago to $6.6 million, or 27 cents a share, from $156,000, or 1 cent a share, during the second quarter of 2014.
