Las Vegas sportsbooks are still nursing their financial bleeding days after the controversial Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez split draw decision.
ESPN reported that long queues of disappointed punters looking for refunds are still present in different Vegas betting shops three days after Golovkin and Alvarez fought to a split draw.
It would be recalled that Judges Adalaide Byrd, Dave Moretti, and Don Trella could not come to much agreement on who won the bout after the two boxers slugged it out for 12 rounds. The result ended with the two best fighters in the world being the undisputed two best fighters in the world.
Sportsbooks, however, weren’t happy with the decision. Most of them thought Golovkin was the clear winner heading into the decision. Punters saw things differently, too. They grumble as they headed to the nearest betting shop for refunds.
