The issue of loot box gambling, which continues to spread like wild fire, has finally reached the land down under.

While Australia has yet to issue its formal position on the matter, Kotaku Australia reported that the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation (VCGLR) has declared that loot boxes constitutes a form of gambling.

It all started with a student’s curiosity on whether loot boxes constitute gambling. Perhaps, the Aussie student might be reading all the negative feedback that Electronic Arts’ Star Wars Battlefront II is receiving that he reached out to the VCGLR via Reddit.

Lo and behold, someone from the VCGLR was apparently reading the Reddit post.
