Sam Trickett signs for PartyPoker as the stable continues to grow

Sam Trickett has come out from the shadows to sign a deal to represent partypoker when playing live and online. Partypoker will promote Trickett by creating online ‘Trickett’s Cash Games’ where players can compete against the man on an invite-only basis.

As we approach the yuletide season I can’t help but wonder what would have happened had Mary & Joseph turned up at partypoker’s stable looking for a place to give birth to baby Jesus – because there wouldn’t have been any room.

Another bale of hay has gone the way of a British pro, and they don’t come more high profile than Sam Trickett. The former 2012 One Drop runner-up has won more money playing live tournament poker than any European player alive or pushing up daffodils and he will now ply his trade at partypoker.

Trickett joins Mike Sexton, Tony Dunst, Roberto Romanello, Patrick Leonard, Carl Froch, Jackie Glazier and Natalia Breviglieri as a representative of the partypoker brand. Dusk till Dawn (DTD) has a private card room called Trickett’s Room and DTD are the branded poker room of choice for Partypoker.

FIFA President believes video replays will aid officials in the 2018 World Cup

FIFA President, Gianni Infantino, has told reporters that he is hopeful that they will implement video replay technology at the 2018 World Cup in Russia to aid under fire referees.

Many people remember England leaving the World Cup in South Africa in disgrace after a 4-1 drubbing at the hands of those pesky Germans – not me. I believe we would have won that World Cup had it not been for Frank Lampard’s disallowed goal in the 37th minute. It would have drawn England level – 2-2 just before halftime – and would have handed the momentum to the 11 lions.

And I can’t even blame the officials.

I have to blame technology.

Baazov backer vows to boost commitment to ensure Amaya bid success

Former Amaya Gaming CEO David Baazov has confirmed that a Dubai-based investment firm is not involved in his bid to acquire Amaya.

On Tuesday, KBC Aldini Capital Ltd publicly refuted Baazov’s claims that it was one of four financial entities backstopping Baazov’s C$24 per share bid to acquire Amaya, the parent company of PokerStars. Baazov (pictured) announced the bid on November 14 in a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

KBC CEO Kalani Lal told Toronto’s Globe & Mail newspaper that his firm had never “given any commitment, nor have we had any discussions, or any type of verbal communication” about Amaya with anyone. Lal said his firm had submitted a complaint to the SEC regarding Baazov “using KBC’s name fraudulently.”

On Wednesday, Baazov released a statement saying KBC had advised him that “the equity commitment letter purported to be delivered to Mr. Baazov on behalf of KBC was delivered without KBC’s knowledge or consent and that KBC has not committed to provide financing for the proposed acquisition of Amaya.”

MGM opposes $300 million Connecticut casino plan

MGM Resorts International, which plans to open a $950-million casino complex in Springfield, is mulling on bringing Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods  to court to prevent them from building a new casino that will rival their facility.

WWLP-22News reported that MGM’s lawyers head to the United States Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit in New York City on Monday in an effort to stop the tribes from commencing in the construction of their casinos and keep Connecticut gambling money from flowing across state lines to MGM Springfield.

Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods have taken five communities in Connecticut as the possible location of their new casino; East Hartford, Windsor Locks, South Windsor, Hartford and East Windsor.  The proposed site in East Windsor is just 14 miles away from MGM Springfield.

But Bob Maynard, 1st selectman of East Windsor, doesn’t believe that the joint Mohegan-Mashantucket Pequot company will not pick their area due to its proximity to MGM Springfield.
