Asian-facing online gambling operator Dafabet has added another Welsh football scalp to its sponsorship pole.
Late last week, Dafabet announced it had inked a pact to become the new Official Betting Partner of the Football Association of Wales. The three-year deal, which will run through August 2018, will also cover the 2016 European Championships in France and the Welsh team’s bid to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
The deal expands on Dafabet’s announcement this summer of its sponsorship of the Welsh Premier League, which was the biggest commercial deal in WPL history. The summer also saw Dafabet ink shirt sponsorships with English Premier Leaguers Sunderland AFC and Football League Championship side Blackburn Rovers. More recently, Dafabet branched out into the world of eSports by sponsoring pro team Fnatic.
Dafabet’s sports marketing and sponsorship point man John Cruces said his firm was chuffed to be expanding its Welsh profile at a time when the national club was entering “what could be well the most successful period in their history.”
