New Jersey lawmakers introduced a bill that would allow not just two but three new casinos in the northern part of the state.
Assemblyman Ralph Caputo, one of the sponsors of the bill, announced on Monday that they’ve introduced a proposed constitutional amendment which, if passed by the Legislature, would have to be approved by voters to launch three casinos in North Jersey.
South Jersey legislators stated that they did not approve of the proposed bill, as additional casinos would have a negative effect on the struggling Atlantic City gambling industry.
In 2014, four casinos closed and the city posted a decline in annual gaming revenue for eighth consecutive year.
