Million Dollar Hoops Event Finds A Home

Fantasy basketball fans take note, a new Million Dollar hoops tournament has found a home. The Basketball Tournament, a second year venture which will be seen this summer on ESPN, announced Friday that its semi-finals and finals will be held at Fordham University’s Rose Hill Gym in the Bronx, NY.

The event, created by Boston entrepreneur Jonathan Mugar, boats a 96 team field of fan-created teams with talent ranging from elite college players to current professionals all playing through in regional events to the August final. The first year’s event paid a whopping $500,000 to a team of Notre Dame alumni, with this year’s field tripling along with double the prize money.

As reported by the New York Daily News, organizers chose the facility because of its mix of traditional (the gym is 90 years old) and advertiser-friendly location in the basketball capital of the world.
