SportsPesa and Everton Football Club have been rewarded for their partnership at the Sports Industry Awards, in the Best African Sponsorship and Pan-Africa Campaign of the Year categories.
The sponsorship, which kicked off with Everton travelling to Dar es Salaam in July 2017 to play against SportPesa Super Cup winners Gor Mahia from Kenya, has been celebrated for bringing English Premier League football to East Africa for the first time.
It was the success of this captivating visit, referred to as “Everton in Tanzania”, that roused interest from the industry, resulting in the two awards which was announced at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg on Friday.
Mark Rollings, Head of Partnership Management at Everton Football Club, said: “We are delighted that our partnership with SportPesa has been recognised on such a prestigious stage as the Sports Industry Awards. These are the most recognised sports sponsorship and marketing awards in Africa, so to win both Best African Sponsorship and Pan-Africa Campaign of the Year is a testament to the strength of our partnership with SportPesa and their ethos as a partner.
