Finally a good poker novel!

Hi, I strongly reccomend the poker novel “The Only Way To Play It” from Peter Alson.

The author was one of the co-authors of “One of a Kind”, the great bio of Stu Ungar. And also wrote “Take Me To The River” from his personal experience in the WSOP 2005.

His first poker novel is very real and entertaining. We can read about the underground poker clubs of New York that reminds me to the movie “Rounders”. It’s also about parenthood and how to deal with a conflictive father.

Only $9 on Amazon. One of the best poker books from 2020 and one of the best poker novels I read with “Shut Up and Deal” and “King of a Small World”.

time in turn at poker

There are tournaments where the prize is very low, the time of each player’s turn also implies in the execution time of the tournament, would it be convenient or not that the time of each player’s turn is reduced in tournaments with low prizes?

$.11 NLHE MTT Deep Stacked: Deep Stack BB Defense Against Short Stack CO All In

I don’t get a big stack advantage very often, so I wasn’t sure how to play this spot. I would appreciate any advice on how to play this hand. It’s about halfway through a 5 hour late registration $0.11 Freezeout.

I am in the BB with A10o and a healthy 180 BB sitting about 3/80 with about 2.5 hours of late registration remaining.

UTG with 13 BB limps into the pot.

It folds down to CO who shoves 21 BB.

Hypnosis for poker?

For those who have (or have) problems with the handling of the bank, who woke up with the idea that today I will not play more than 2 tables, or today I will not play something outside my limit or if I lose up to $ 10 % of my bank I retire and at the end of the day we did the opposite. I have heard about the book “mind control” (I have not read it because I am not fluent in English), I also think that the Golden child created an app that pursues mind control. Now is it possible that through ignosis (I don’t believe much in this) or some kind of audio meditation, these goals can be achieved?

PokerStars Inbound connection disconnected

So I just installed the new update for PokerStars and during play of a grand tour right at the end when I go all in I get this warning message, yet nothing appeared to disconnect and game flow was not disrupted.

Strange. Any Ideas what this is?

Has anyone been actually disconnected or unable to act after seeing this message?

2nd day tournament – low stack

Yesterday I went through the first day of a two-day tournament. After finishing day one, my stack is 500k (average 730k). There are a lot of places in this tournament paid (480 out of 540 players and no more will come).

My question is how do you think i should start playing in my situation? Wait until I’m in itm and then aggressively or start harder right away?

Trick Patched, PokerStars Classic Display Gone for Good

Yesterday I got an update from PokerStars, and now I can no longer get the old light classic display by deleting the insides of the ImgCache folder.

Now the contents of the ImgCache folder get regenerated each time you launch the client, and even if you delete them after the client is launched, they regenerate when you try to open a table.

They patched it quickly.

I cannot emphasize how much I hate the new Aurora engine, and especially their decision do completely disable the classic display despite it will cost them little to nothing.

Casino million dollar race ?

What Have We Learned So Far from Polk-Negreanu Heads-Up Match?

Daniel Negreanu and Doug Polk are still in the early phase of their heads-up poker grudge match. But we’ve learned a few things about each player, their styles of play, and what to expect from them going forward.

Through four sessions — 1,372 hands, Polk holds a $180,865 profit, but lost over $80,000 on Wednesday. Thus far, the match is going exactly how many projected. Negreanu, a live tournament specialist, is a heavy underdog against his opponent, who is considered one of the top heads-up no-limit hold’em players ever.

So, few poker players are surprised to see the Upswing Poker founder out in front early on by 6.5 buy-ins. But the match is still in its infancy stages. They’ve agreed to play at least 12,500 hands of $200/$400 NLH on WSOP.com. At this point, they’re only 11% to completion, although the losing player at 12,500 hands can require they play a full 25,000-hand match.

Bad Beat on Final Hand of Day Crushes Negreanu’s Dominating Session

Daniel Negreanu finally won some big pots and was on his way to scoring a huge profit on Day 4 of his challenge against Doug Polk. But a brutal bad beat on the final hand of the day put a damper on the GGPoker ambassador’s impressive session.

Polk entered Wednesday’s session with more than a $260,000 profit in three days — just over 1,000 hands. They’ve agreed to play at least 12,500 hands of $200/$400 stakes on WSOP.com. So, a big lead this early in the match doesn’t guarantee victory by any stretch of the imagination.

But it was crucial for Negreanu to get on the winning track before it’s too late, and before he’s down the cost of a mansion in Beverly Hills. He stopped the bleeding on Day 4 before taking a severe kick to the stones on the last hand.

Polk Catches Cards, Dominates Negreanu in First Online Session

Daniel Negreanu got off to a strong start against Doug Polk during the first and only live poker session they’ll play in their heads-up challenge. But the Upswing Poker founder bounced back nicely with a dominating performance in the first online session.

The long-time feuding poker pros will play as many as 25,000 hands of $200/$400 No-Limit Hold’em. They’re playing all but the first 200 hands on the WSOP.com poker site in Nevada.

On Friday, they began the online portion of the challenge, and played for almost exactly two hours. Playing two tables at a time, the poker pros completed 424 hands during the session for a total of 624 hands overall. Negreanu opened the match with a $116,500 victory Wednesday at the PokerGo Studio in Las Vegas.
