Lee Davy brings you updates from the World Series of Poker Main Event as nine players battle it out for the title of poker’s Champion of the World and $8m in prize money.
The penultimate day of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event has drawn to a close and the man who started the day as the chip leader maintains it with only three players left with a shot of winning the $8m first prize.
Qui Nguyen had another outstanding day on the felt and only surrendered the chip leader briefly to Gordon Vayo in the hand that led to the demise of Vojtech Ruzicka who bluffed off the vast majority of his chips in a three-bet pot holding AK when Vayo had flopped middle set. Ruzicka was left with fumes after that hand and Nguyen would take him out AQ>A7 in the very next hand.
With Ruzicka out of the way it left Michael Ruane as the table short stack and after being bullied by Cliff Josephy blind after blind Ruane eventually moved all-in over the top of a Nguyen open, holding [Kh] [Qh], only for Nguyen to call and hold with [Ah] [Js] and retake the chip lead.
