Wynn Resorts, through its Wynn Macau Ltd. subsidiary, has announced that it will offer a “winter bonus” to certain eligible employees. The bonus will be equal to a month’s salary and the decision comes on the heels of similar bonuses offered by Wynn competitors MGM China and Melco Resorts. The three are the only ones out of the six operators in Macau to offer the bonus so far this winter.
The Wynn bonuses will not be offered to the company’s senior management. The company adds that it decided to provide the bonuses as a gesture of appreciation for the employees’ efforts in the second half of last year. Wynn explained in a statement, “This bonus is being awarded to show the company’s appreciation to all team members for their hard work, commitment and loyalty during what has been a successful second half of 2018.”
When the bonus will be issued was not mentioned, but the firm added that “nearly 96%” of its workforce will receive the payments. The company has 13,500 employees among two properties it operates in Macau – Wynn Macau on the peninsula and Wynn Palace in Cotai.
Wynn Macau, as well as Wynn Resorts, has not yet released its fourth-quarter or its full-year financial results. However, when it published its third-quarter results last November, it gave a stark outlook for the last three months of the year. This makes the link between the bonus and the second-half performance a little puzzling.
