Rumored Smoking Ban Lift Has Wynn Resorts, Limited (WYNN)'s Shares Curling Upward

The shares of Wynn Resorts, Limited have opened this week on a positive note, gaining as much as 5.95% in morning trading today and currently trading up by 4.43% on the day. The primary reason for this boost is the latest speculation that the Chinese government outlook over the smoking rooms on gaming floors in Macau may be easing.

The Main Event is whittling towards its finale, and now it starts to get really interesting. Interwetten profit soars; Germany urged to adopt Schleswig-Holstein online plan

Malta-based online gambling operator Interwetten saw H1 profits quadruple after tightening its marketing spending.

Interwetten, which has a strong presence in German-speaking markets, said revenue rose 16% to €25.7m in the first six months of 2015. Growth was particularly strong in Q2, with sports betting up 12% and casino revenue up 31%. H1 profit rose more than 300% to over €5m.

Board spokesman Werner Becher credited the profit surge to more efficient marketing and CRM spending. Marketing costs were 21% of H1 revenue, while customer bonuses were just 8%, figures Becher claimed were well below industry standards.

The numbers are all the more impressive given this year’s lack of a marquee sporting event like last summer’s FIFA World Cup. Becher said the boffo H1 results had put the company on target to “clearly outperform” its full-year objectives of €1b in gambling turnover, €50m in revenue and €10m in profits.

Australian lottery winner accused of hiding win reaches deal with pool members

A group of people who sued a Melbourne, Australia, co-worker after he allegedly failed to distribute the winnings of a AU$16.6 million lottery pool ticket have reportedly struck a deal with him. The Geelong man is accused of keeping the big win to himself, cheating the other members of the pool out of their share of the $16.6 million group draw last October.

FanDuel Goes To The Desert For Hoops Partnership

FanDuel Goes To The Desert For Hoops Partnership

by @JoeFav

While DraftKings plays front and center around all the goings-on with the MLB All-Star festivities this weekend, FanDuel will be hooping it up in Las Vegas, according to Jon Lombardo of Sports Business Journal.

“FanDuel will activate at the venues from a branding standpoint,” said Kerry Tatlock, senior vice president of global marketing partnerships for the NBA in the SBJ article, adding that the company, one of the NBA’s newest partners, will use the Summer League as a testing ground for the coming NBA season.

FanDuel joins Adidas, Gatorade, Panini and Samsung as league partners activating around the events at The Thomas and Mack Center.

The activation at Summer League fits right in with the strategy CEO Nigel Eccles has set forth for the company, focusing their marketing dollars and attention on two key sports, football and basketball, as the center for retention and growth. It also makes for a nice extension of all the activity going on around Las Vegas this past weekend, as the UFC again had one of its biggest events of the year, drawing thousands to the city and its resorts, many of whom fit the Fan Duel demo even if UFC is not a primary target for the company.

The week will also serve as a great discussion point for Fan Duel, with many NBA team executives in Las Vegas for casual meetings and other projects surrounding many of the league’s young stars, many of whom will be front and center for Fan Duel during their marketing and activation this fall.

The Samsung NBA Summer League runs for the next 10 days.

WSOP 2015 Merchandising: From T-Shirts to Tax Prep, Poker Players Bought It

WSOP 2015 is close to over, and not only will many players go home with more moolah than they came with, so will many of the event’s ubiquitous vendors. Once upon a time, the World Series of Poker was purely about gamblers testing their skills to find out who was the best in the world […]

The pushback forum

I agree with Dusit Thammaraks when he says foreign residents are “educationally and culturally ill-equipped to grasp the intricacies of Thailand and the Thai people”. Most of the expats I know here – even the ones who speak Thai fluently – fail too get it when corrupt officials are transferred to an inactive post rather than being sacked or tried; when the prime minister suggests other countries will be in awe of Thailand because of a few submarines; and when the Irrigation Department organises ritual dances to appease the rain gods to ease the drought.

James Packer makes a last pitch for Brisbane casino license

Crown Resorts boss James Packer has made a final pitch to win the Queen’s Wharf casino license, saying that he can turn Brisbane into a world-class destination much as he did in Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.

In an interview with the Sunday Mail, Packer said the company is “going the extra mile” in order to win the Brisbane license.

“We have significantly improved our proposal. It’s a very strong offer for the people of Queensland. I personally want Brisbane to be part of our international resort network,” said Packer. “Crown is a global company and Brisbane can be a great global city. Crown can help bring world-class entertainment and events to the city and transform Queen’s Wharf, just like we have done in Melbourne at Southbank and Burswood in Perth.”

If approved, Crown’s property would feature Brisbane’s first six-star hotel, two five-star ones, a water park, a large casino floor, etc. The gambling operator is working together with Chinese real estate developer Greenland Holdings on the expensive project.

Big Time Journey: a Time Travelling Epic, Exclusive to Odobo

Gibraltar, 13 July 2015 – Foxium’s multi-level time-travelling slot game, Big Time Journey, is now available exclusively via Odobo.

Big Time Journey is a 5×3 slot game with 25 paylines and cartoon-style 3D graphics. It features five different time periods for players to experience, starting out in 1930s London. The theme features a young boy named Artur, who starts out in an old house situated in the middle of bustling London. Little Artur stumbles upon a Time Machine built by his father before it was forgotten and lay buried deep in the attic. The machine’s reappearance sets him on a path of discovery through the ages and the lure of amassing a fortune along the way. Artur will collect valuable artefacts on his adventures too, giving him collectables that span the Ice age, Prehistoric era, Medieval age and the Victorian era.

The game is loaded with casual features. These include power gems collected in each historical period, 23 achievements, a hidden World War I scene to uncover and the challenge of collecting artefacts in each new era. These sticky features are matched by the substantial bonuses and free spins that launch as the player progresses through each new period.

Daniil Sanders, Creative Director at Foxium, commented, “Building games via Odobo means we can use a lot of the core technology on offer without having to replicate this ourselves. This saves us time and money while giving us tools with excellent functionality and flexibility. We’ve been able to focus our attention on the gameplay, a great narrative, unusual gameplay and advanced features that deliver greater entertainment value.”

WSOP Day 5 Round Up: Pierre Neuville Leads Final 69; Daniel Negreanu Still in the Hunt

Pierre Neuville leads the final 69 players as time runs out on the fifth day of action in the $10,000 buy-in World Series of Poker Main Event. Daniel Negreanu, Brian Hastings, Toby Lewis and Justin Bonomo still have chips.

Fight Club’s author Chuck Palahniuk once wrote: “This is your life and it’s ending one minute at a time.”

It’s a reminder to get your shit together. Stop fretting about the past, stop worrying about the future, and play the hand that you have just been dealt. I imagine when you reach the age of 72 these sorts of quotes hold more prominence in your life. I would ask Pierre Neuville for his opinion, but he’s a little busy beating up hoody-wearing hoodlums that could be his grandchildren.

The former Vice-President of Hasbro is not playing around. Last year he cashed 8-times, this year not so much, but with 7.105m chips he plans to settle down for the long haul. It’s quite an impressive feat for a man I once saw asking Mickey Petersen if he could take a rest when heads-up for the European Poker Tour (EPT) title in Copenhagen. Petersen refused. Neuville flagged. I am sure he would have learned from that experience.
