We now know the draft picks for the inaugural Global Poker League, and it’s good news for poker fans, as the very best players in the game come out to support the initiative in their droves.

If the first season of the Global Poker League (GPL) falls on its ass, it will not be down to a lack of playing talent.

The top ranked 1,000 players in the Global Poker Index (GPI) had the opportunity to apply, and 201 of them thought the contract was worth a dab of ink.

The Global Poker League (GPL) Draft will take place February 25. We now know who will be available for selection. Of the 1,000 players eligible, 201 of them signed a contract and sent it by carrier pigeon to Castle Global Poker Index (GPI) in Malta.

Players from 36 different nations are involved: over 50% of them are American (103); Canada (13) and Russia (10) are the other two countries in double figures. There is a healthy mix of players of all ages, both online and live skills, cash and tournament experience, and eight female players.

Macau Legend breaks ground on casino in Cape Verde

Macau-based casino and hotel operator Macau Legend Development Limited has officially began construction of its $290 million casino resort at in Cape Verde.

Macau Legend boss David Chow appeared at the groundbreaking ceremony of his new gaming resort on Monday, along with the Cape Verde’s Prime Minister, José Maria Neves.

“The project will represent a new chapter in the Cape Verde tourism sector,” Chow said, adding that it would also serve as an example of the abilities of the people of Macau in the business world.

Chow, during the announcement of the project in July, said that the company’s investment in Cape Verde is the first step to expansion in the international market to offset losses in Macau due to the Chinese government crackdown.

Chow, during the announcement of the project in July, said that the company’s investment in Cape Verde is the first step to expansion in the international market to offset losses in Macau due to the Chinese government crackdown.

The Star to build second tower in Jupiters casino

Star Entertainment Group plans to build a second tower at its Gold Coast site, in addition to the $345 million refurbishment of the Jupiters Hotel and Casino and the 17-storey luxury tower under construction.

The Star Entertainment, formerly known as Echo Entertainment Group, said that it had begun the planning process for the new 200m-high, 4.5 star hotel at Gold Coast site.

The new tower, which will cost more than $500 million, will include 700 hotel rooms and apartments, bringing up the casino and resort’s room numbers to almost 1400.

A live sports theatre is also planned to be a part of the transformation and the total investment under consideration to reach $850 million.
