Fintech startup featuring bitcoin sets up shop in France
Ah, France. The land of pastries, romance, and at times, odd conflicts.
Take digital currency for example. A few days ago, we learned that a major right-wing political party is eyeing the complete ban of all forms of cryptocurrency—including bitcoin—in the European country should it ascend to power in the next election.
This bit of news, however, does not seem to faze Stripe, a fintech start-up, from launching a new platform in France—one that supports a host of payment options, including Apple Pay, Pay Android, Alipay, and bitcoin.
A brainchild of brothers Patrick and John Collison, Stripe’s main goal is to make things easier for online businesses by giving them “the broadest possible range of payment and transaction-related tools.” So far, the platform already supports 130 currencies and modern payment methods such as cryptocurrency.
Trump accused of stiffing over 200 Taj Mahal Casino subcontractors
Amid his soaring speeches and colorful, pro-worker rhetoric, U.S Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump has forgotten to walk the talk.
Trump, who has built an image as a protector of workers and jobs throughout the Republican presidential primaries, is now accused of failing to pay hundreds of people – from carpenters to lawyers – for their services.
USA Todayreported that more than 3,500 lawsuits have been filed against Trump over the past three decades, and majority of the cases involves American workers claiming that Trump or his companies have refused to pay them.
The some of the lawsuits against Trump, which were all documented by the New Jersey Casino Control Commission in the 1990, came from at least 253 project sub-contractors of the Taj Mahal Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey, who all accusedTrump of failing to pay them in full or on time for their work. Records showed that Trump’s companies owed a total of $69.5 million to 253 subcontractors on the Taj Mahal project.

The Freedom to Win: An Economic Predictor of EURO 2016
Most punters and pundits agree that France is the probable winner of the EURO 2016 soccer tournament that kicks off Friday evening in Paris when the host nation entertains Romania. But, France isn’t necessarily the smart bet; in fact, France may be the riskiest ‘safe’ bet on the board.
The reality is that France’s – and every other nation’s – soccer fortune isn’t written in the stars, but in the stats, i.e. the economic stats. France enjoys home pitch advantage and, on paper, a very talented squad of players for Didier Deschamps to coach. Nevertheless, today’s release of the Democracy Institute’s EURO 2016 rankings suggests Les Bleus, currently the 16/5 favourite, are heavily over-wagered.
This is the 3rd edition of the Democracy Institute’s econometric soccer rankings. In 2010, ouranalysis of each World Cup nation’s level of economic freedom provided a reliable guide to their performance that year in South Africa. When successfully reprised at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, the DI rankingswere a popular tool among gamblers and investors.
For EURO 2016, the Democracy Institute hasanalyzed the competing nations according to the data provided by the “Index of Economic Freedom,” the Heritage Foundation’s annual publication measuring economic freedom in 178 countries. Good coaching, a talented squad, and some luck are necessary for victory in a major soccer tournament, but they are often insufficient to the task. When these necessary variables are synthesized with a weighted economic freedom variable, the subsequent DI rankings add some essential science to the art of soccer wagering.

Sands’ Adelson, GEG locked in a casino word war
Hell is on the verge of breaking loose once again as Sands China chief Sheldon Adelson and Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) find themselves locked in yet another heated word war.
GEG came out swinging on Friday and– without mincing words – calls Adelson “impolite” and “unprofessional” in a bitter response to the feisty American casino mogul’s remark that the Galaxy Phase 2 and Studio City are not as good as his new project, The Parisian, according to Macau Business Daily.
In an act of retaliation, GEG takes a jab at Adelson’s irresponsible comment, saying that it is deeply disappointed with the Sands China executive.
“Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) would like to express its deep disappointment in his unprofessional behavior. Belittling the competition through unfair comments benefits no one,” according to the GEG statement sent to the news agency.

Calling The Clock: Jesus Resurrected at WSOP; Aaron Paul Stars For GPL; Moorman Signs For 888Poker
In this week’s Calling The Clock the World Series of Poker sees Chris ‘Jesus’ Ferguson return to action after a five-year absence, Aaron Paul stars in the opening match of the Global Poker League Summer Series, and Chris Moorman signs for 888Poker.
It’s June, and that means one thing: The World Series of Poker (WSOP), and here are the highlights of the first week.
The organisers of the world’s greatest festival of poker have so far handed out six bracelets and one million dollar prize. That bad boy is now sitting in the bank account of Benjamin Keeline, 30, who managed to turn a single $500 chip, with blinds at $1,500/$3,000 ante $500, into a $1m first prize after outlasting 21,613 in the Colossus II.
WSOP officials pulled out all the stops in the hope that this would be a record breaker, and it was. Unfortunately, the record for highest number of players cashing in a single event (3,245) was not what they expected. It was supposed to be the largest live tournament ever, and instead, it never managed to overhaul the enormity of Colossus I.

3-Barrels: PokerStars Withdraw DUEL; Launch Jackpot Poker on Steam; BetStars Wins EGR Award For Spin & Bet
3-Barrels with an Amaya Gaming flavour as PokerStars withdraws their DUEL app from the market; prepare to launch Jackpot Poker on Steam, and pick up an EGR Award for Spin & Bet.
I love poker, but I can’t play. I don’t have the time. I am a busy man, always writing, reading; trying to be a father, and a great husband. And that’s why, when PokerStars announced plans to launch a new innovative product called DUEL I got quite excited.
I thought they understood me. I figured they saw me. For the first time, in a very long time, I thought they had crept into my head, pulled out the notepad, and starting figuring out why I wasn’t playing and what they could do to lure me back into bed with them.
DUEL was a turn-based heads-up format of poker that played similar to Words With Friends. It was perfect for people who could only fit in a few moves between meetings, shitty nappies, or 15-seconds of Oh My God!
The Mega Preview for the 2016 Belmont Stakes
The story for the 2016 Belmont Stakes should’ve seen Exaggerator and Nyquist ending their vaunted trilogy at a race which has earned the nickname “The Test of the Champion.” It would’ve been unbelievable drama for an event that sorely needs it. Instead, we are getting a straightforward renewal with one heavy favorite and some hopeful contenders.
Don’t worry, there’s still plenty of reason to care about this race, especially given that you can make money off it through betting. We’ll get to that in a second.
WHAT HAPPENED TO NYQUIST?
Heading in to the Kentucky Derby, Nyquist was the favorite and trounced the field, while Exaggerator placed as the runner-up. In the rematch at the Preakness Stakes, Nyquist was caught off guard by the muddy conditions which Exaggerator excelled in as he dusted the competition. Days after the second leg of the Triple Crown series concluded, the sport received some tough news.
