Tuesday NBA Playoff games odds and betting trends

There are three Game 5s in the NBA playoffs on Tuesday night, and two teams can book their spots in the conference semifinals.

Odds courtesy of OddsShark.com

The first game of the night is one that is guaranteed at least a Game 6 as the Milwaukee Bucks visit the Boston Celtics with the series knotted at 2-2. The home team has won all four thus far; Boston has never lost a best-of-seven series when leading 2-0, going 35-0. That would be in major jeopardy with a loss Tuesday.

The Celtics, however, are 2.5-point favorites. Boston covered as a 4-point favorite in Game 1 with a 113-107 overtime victory and at -1 in Game 2, 120-106.

FA Cup review: Man Utd beat Spurs; Chelsea ease past Southampton

Manchester United will face Chelsea in the final of the FA Cup after both Spurs and Southampton came up short in the penultimate stage of the oldest club cup competition in the world.

In football, losing in the semi-final of the cup feels like waking up on Christmas morning, and all you have is an apple and a few nuts. It’s a kick in the balls. You feel like heading to your Dad’s ‘secret place’ ignoring the porn, picking up the single bullet and ending it right there (although I have to admit, I would have to swallow it for it to have any effect, as my Dad doesn’t have a gun).

Spurs and Southampton players are feeling the same way about now.

Let’s start with the first of those two ’S’s’.

3 Barrels: Eldridge and Greenwood win HR’s; Cheong wins a third gold ring

3: Barrels of a live tournament flavour including David Eldridge winning the Main Event at the partypoker MILLIONS in Montreal, Sam Greenwood winning the High Roller at WPT Amsterdam, and Joseph Cheong bagging a third gold ring at the World Series of Poker Circuit stop at Harrah’s Cherokee.

Poker’s high roller scene should be deader than snail racing, and yet it’s the most vibrant thing about poker. Investors have found a way to make some money while having fun. The circus performers exchange millions of dollars while walking along the tightrope. The scene has shot a few of them out of a cannon. No net. That’s the end of that. But invariably, the beasts are slicing melons, not wasting time thinking about how to crack coconuts.

And what a time it is for poker’s higher echelon.

PokerStars’ Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) has a few juicy buy-ins, as does partypoker’s POWERFEST. The Triton Poker Series is offering five days of big buy-in events in Montenegro. The European Poker Tour (EPT) will do the same in Monte Carlo. The Super High Roller Bowl (SHRB) follows, and then the World Series of Poker (WSOP).

EPL review week 35: Stoke slide closer to the abyss; Swansea hammered

Week 35 of the Premier League sees Arséne Wenger wave the white flag; Stoke slides closer to the abyss after failing to beat Burnley at home and Man City humiliate Swansea with a 5-0 drubbing.

Arséne Wenger won three Premier League titles and seven FA Cups. Considering he won most of these competing with Sir Alex Ferguson at his pomp he deserves a hat tip.

Ferguson devoted 26-years of his life to the dressing room. Wenger is in his 22nd year. But there is one primary difference. The United manager left the club as a champion; Wenger leaves feeling alienated, unappreciated and unwanted.

On Friday, Wenger told the press that he would finally step down at the end of the season quoting the global status of the club as a brand as the primary reason, given that most of the focus on Arsenal seems to be on Wenger.

Galaxy Boracay casino plan still alive as Philippine partner buys more land

Macau-based casino operator Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) is not backing out from its integrated resort project in the Philippine holiday island of Boracay anytime soon.

The Philippine Star reported that GEG’s local partner, Philippine-listed gambling operator Leisure & Resorts World Corp., bought more properties on the island—a sign that the casino operator was staying, according to a local government official.

GEG and LRWC, through its subsidiary Boracay Philippines Resort and Leisure Corporation (BPRLC), initially acquired a 23-hectare property for the $500 million integrated resort project.

According to Boracay Affairs Municipal Executive Assistant Rowen Aguirre, LRWC remained in negotiations with several other property owners for additional land acquisition. He said that government officials in the island didn’t object to the acquisition of land in Boracay because the area remained underdeveloped and that the area where GEG planned to put up its land-based casino was mostly residential.

Hold-up ‘at the top’ prompts fresh delays on FOBT crackdown

The decision whether to lower the maximum stake on fixed-odds betting terminals (FOBTs) in the United Kingdom has been delayed yet again, this time due to infighting “at the top of government.”

Members of the Parliament were expected to announce the UK government’s decision to enforce a reduced limit on FOBT wagering levels before the month of April ended, but Daily Mail reported on Monday that the crackdown has been put off until after the local elections have been held in the beginning of May because of conflicts among some members of the government.

Chancellor Philip Hammond was “responsible for the hold-up,” sources told the UK news outlet.

Hammond, a member of the British Conservative Party, has been reportedly rebuffing the proposal to impose a £2 maximum stake on grounds that the government may stand to lose “hundreds of millions in gambling tax revenues.” The proposed limit would be a huge drop from the current £100 per spin limit.
