Game of Thrones odds: Who’s going to die first?
The exciting conclusion to Game of Thrones is mere days away, with the first episode of the season airing on April 14. We’ve previously taken a look at who will walk away as the new monarch of the seven kingdoms. Now, with odds care of Bodog, we’ll take a look at several props that could end up getting settled pretty early, if the story moves fast.
Which Lannister will die first? The odds favor Cersei (20/23), but you’ll recall I think she will end the show as Queen, so I’m picking Tyrion (5/2) to die before Jaime (8/5), simply because I think there’s more story left to tell between the loving brother and sister than there is for the dwarf.
The only Stark I expect to die is Sansa (3/1), so I pick her to expire before either Arya (2/3) or Bran (9/5). I just think the younger two Starks of Winterfell have a lot left to do, and Sansa seems like the only one on a path for tragedy.
If you want to bet on if Daenerys Targaryen’s death, the odds are the same on if she will or won’t, at 20/23. I would bet that she does though, as I don’t see anything more fitting for her than a heroic death to save the realm she fought to rule.

The aftermath of Trump: The remains of dead casinos
The news in Atlantic City often turns sour, with profits tumbling, casino’s looking for new buyers, and the pie not growing any bigger despite new investments. Taking a step back and looking at what has become of “the world’s playground,” The Guardian interviewed photographer Brian Rose about his new book, Atlantic City, which was inspired by the election of President Donald Trump.
Trump once owned three casinos in the New Jersey beachfront town, with 8000 employees and a hefty chunk of the state’s gambling revenues. However, due to the casinos being built off the back of junks bonds that Trump was unable to pay off, Trump famously declared bankruptcy several times, not paying his contractors and ultimately abandoning the ventures.
The result on the town has been a higher level of unemployment, and a ghostly looking beach front. Rose said, “When Trump failed with his casinos, he turned Atlantic City into a ghost town. His legacy still haunts the boardwalk.”
Trump didn’t come out too bad in the end, borrowing more from third parties so his own wealth would go untouched. Re-investment didn’t appear to be in his vocabulary though, as he bragged about pulling wealth out of the city.

Summit Ascent investor near completing sale of shares
Last week, the main shareholder in Summit Ascent Holdings Ltd confirmed that they were considering selling off their shares in the company. First Steamship Co Ltd, the primary shareholder in Summit Ascent with nearly 20% of the stock, announced their plans to take their money and go home.
On April 9, First Steamship provided a filing to the Taiwan Stock Exchange which confirms that the company is looking to sell off their assets to a third-party. Summit Ascent, which is the promoter of Tigre dee Cristal, one of the largest resort casinos in Russia, could very well have the same group of current investors who would be purchasing additional shares, according to the report.
First Steamship currently owns over 285 million shares in the casino resort promoter, or approximately 19.25%. While no official confirmation has been provided, it seems likely that the company will be having an additional set of shareholders soon.
The timing of this move is interesting, as Suncity Group had just bought the equity position of Summit Ascent in the Macau casino in February. Suncity had already owned 3.3% of the shares in Summit Ascent, but had increased their shares to an undisclosed amount. Now many are speculating that they are one of the investors looking to increase their shares as First Steamship sells off their holdings.
The Boston Globe wants Massachusetts to force out Wynn Resorts CEO
The Boston Globe believes that Matt Maddox is no longer fit to sit in the big chair at Wynn Resorts. The media outlet has begun a push to try and get the Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) to seek his ouster in order for the company to retain its casino license in the state.
Wynn Resorts is coming off three days of hearings to determine whether or not the company was willfully negligent (or incompetent) when it received its gaming license in Massachusetts a few years ago. The company’s top brass has appeared before the MGC to respond to questions and the commission is now in a position to determine whether or not the license should be revoked or if Wynn deserves a financial penalty like it received from Nevada gaming officials.
The general consensus has been that the company will just be forced to pay a fine, as a revocation of the license could cause serious delays in the Encore Boston Harbor project and could ultimately cost the state millions of dollars in lost revenue as a new operator is sought. However, a compromise is sought by two writers with The Globe, which would include Maddox being given the boot due to his close ties to Steve Wynn.
Joan Vennochi, a Globe columnist and Pulitzer Prize winner, writes, “Steve Wynn is gone from Wynn Resorts. But not his ugly legacy. That lingers, as long as Matt Maddox, Wynn’s handpicked successor, runs Wynn Resorts…”
