NBA inks betting deal with Unibet, 76ers partner with Fox Bet

The National Basketball Association’s embrace of sports betting shows no sign of letting up, following new partnerships at both the league and team level.

On Monday, online gambling operator Kindred Group announced that its flagship Unibet brand had signed on as the NBA’s latest Authorized Sports Betting Operator. The deal will allow Unibet’s US-facing operations the right to use NBA trademarks across its online and mobile betting platforms, as well as gaining access to proprietary NBA data for in-play wagering purposes.

Manuel Stan, senior VP of Kindred’s US division, said his outfit “shares the NBA’s view on a legal and sustainable sports betting market, which makes this partnership a perfect match.” As with similar deals of this nature, the cost Kindred paid the NBA for this match remains a closely guarded secret.

To date, the NBA’s ever-growing gaming partnership roster includes DraftKings, FanDuel, MGM Resorts, The Stars Group (TSG), William Hill, Australian operators Tabcorp and TSG’s BetEasy, Française des Jeux, Codere and Supermatch. The NBA has also prepped its own virtual sports betting product with Highlight Games.

NFL tales from the book: Two matches that hurt the books in Week 12

Every now and then, it can be pretty handy to get the bookies side of things. To better understand how the house is faring week to week this NFL season, we got insights from Bodog’s own Pat Morrow on the biggest games and betting outcomes.

Biggest win and liability

The Green Bay Packers moneyline (ML) was terrible for the books, losing to the 37-8. But not as bad as the Seattle Seahawks ML and spread (closed -1.5), which Morrow comments “was our biggest loss of the day. But they made up for it with “a rare surprise the Patriots ML over the Cowboys was one of our biggest win of the day,” he notes.

Overall, favorites won the weekend, going 10-2 straight up, but struggled against the spread, going 5-6-1.

Davis Cup Final sees Spain reign in Madrid as Nadal claims victory

An incredible final match in Madrid under the lights saw world number one Rafael Nadal triumph against Denis Shapovalov as the Spaniard won Spain’s second singles fixture to seal a remarkable Davis Cup victory on home soil.

Earlier in the weekend, Canada had eliminated Russia, while Spain had edged past Britain, Kyle Edmund winning his singles match against Feliciano López, but Nadal beat Dan Eveans then came straight back onto court as he and Lopez triumphed against Jamie Murray and Neal Skupski 7-6 (7-3) 7-6 (10-8).

With Roberto Bautista Agut claiming an earlier victory against Felix Auger-Aliassime in a 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 win on the final day, the stage was set for world number one Rafael Nadal to close out the win.

Recently married, surviving a challenge from Novak Djokovic at the ATP Finals to retain his numero uno status, Nadal was never going to be denied against the talented Canadian Shapovalov. And, despite the latter providing many dramatic moments along the way with some stunning returns and amazing winners, Shapovalov couldn’t quite get over the line in both sets.
