Lottery funding to help establish national centre for horology

Clock and watchmakers are celebrating a A 2.8 million investment of National Lottery funding which will help ensure timepieces continue to be cherished in Britain for years to come. It was announced on the eve of the switch from British Summer Time to Greenwich Mean Time that the Heritage Lottery Fund has awarded the British Horological Institute a grant to create a national centre for horology at its base at Upton Hall, near Newark in Nottinghamshire.

US resident sentenced to prison for Jamaica-based lottery scam

A Georgia man was sentenced on Friday after pleading guilty to his role in a Jamaican-based fraudulent lottery scheme that targeted victims in the United States. Dominic Hugh Smith, 27, was sentenced by US District Court Judge Robert J. Conrad Jr. of the Western District of North Carolina to serve 27 months in prison and one year of supervised release.
